Travelling to Ireland is a dream for many Canadians, but the weather, terrain, and unique cultural experiences require a bit of careful packing. And that is especially true if you want to stay comfortable, dry, and stress-free throughout your trip. Ireland's weather can change at a moments notice with rain appearing out of nowhere. A lightweight, breathable waterproof jacket will keep you dry without feeling bulky. Look for one with a hood and the ability to stuff it into your backpack if the jacket isn't going to be needed all day or evening.

Walking on wet cobblestone or muddy trails is part of the Irish experience. A pair of waterproof boots will keep your feet dry and comfortable while providing a stable footing and grip whether you are exploring a cute village or scenic hiking trails.

3. Layering Shirts - Essential for Ireland Travel
Irish weather shifts on a dime every single day. Packing long sleeve and short sleeve shirts that layer easily is essential. Layering allows your to add or remove warmth depending on the temperature and it also keeps your luggage light.
4. Quick Dry Pants for Comfortable Sightseeing
Comfortable travel pants that dry quickly are essential for rainy or damp days. Choosing this type of pant keeps your luggage light and provides you comfortable pants to travel in. As well, they dry quickly so you are not wearing wet pants all day and if you need to pack your luggage as you are moving to a new area of exploration, you are not packing wet pants in your luggage.
5. Travel Adaptor for Ireland
Ireland uses Type G plugs (three rectangular prongs). Bring a universal travel adaptor so you can charge phones, camera, and other electronics without worry.

Even with boots, having a comfortable pair of walking shoes for city or village strolls is key. Look for cushioned soles and brands that are reputable for comfort and lots of walking - your feet will thank you!
10. Packing Cubes - Staying Organized on the Go
Packing cubes are a game changer for organized travel. They make it easy to separate clothing, keep things compact, and find what you need without unpacking your entire suitcase. As well, with as rainy as Ireland can be, I loved having shoe bags that came with our packing cubes. These shoe bags kept our dirty shoes contained from our clean clothes and made life so much easier.
